Voices from a Virgin Islands Perspective.

There are many reasons for creating stories, stories that speak of desires or sometimes express  joy and sometimes pain.  This page will give you the stories of people represented by characters who are strangers in a foreign land.  These stories maybe comical, romantic or tragic but they all stem from a need or better yet a longing...

"Longing"

When the cold North Atlantic wind blows and entraps me in a Philadelphia side street and I am reluctantly compelled to shiver due to my innocence to the cold, I know it is time.

My innocence to nature's cold and that of man's neglect of love for their neighbor in the corridors of  capitalistic America, rings the bell that alarms my sense of nostalgia and once again, I know it is time.

It is time for me to return to a place where the well being of a passer by is complimented by the hospitality shown to him or her. It is a place whose beauty is reflected in the faces of its residents as they walk through emerald green valleys encompassed by mountains bordering paradise. In some cases paradise becomes more than just a fantasy, it is realized.

One can lose a lifetime in "The Jungle" that is Metropolis America or gain a lifetime upon arrival to this land of which I speak.  Beauty is judged by what one knows and understands, familiarity to beauty is a luxury sometimes taken for granted by us all.

I gazed at the rusted clock positioned on the tattered wall of the room in which I sat, and exchanged an occasional glance with the travel agent.  I was not there on appointment, but somehow I found myself waiting. It had been three years of punishment, waiting for my familiarity to beauty and now I knew it was time to go home...home to my beauty, my three emeralds in the sea, my Virgin Islands.
